Con Air is an epic action movie that came out in 1997 and immediately became a cult. It tells the story of a bunch of prisoners who hijack a plane that was taking them to a new prison. It has a spectacular cast that includes actors such as Nicolas Cage, John Malkovich, John Cusack, Steve Buscemi and many more.

1) John Cusack hates this movie
The actor John Cusack doesn’t even wanna talk about this movie in interviews, and costantly tries to forget that it ever happened.

3) John Malkovich had no idea what to do
Actor John Malkovich was quite confused during the shooting of Con Air, since the script kept being changed every day and he wasn’t sure wether his character was representing a crazy criminal or a sane one.
4) A man died during the realization of the film
Phil Swartz was an effects specialist who worked on the Con Air and was killed during the making, when a rigged plane fell and crushed him.
5) Nicolas Cage was the only one who kinda cared
He even went to Alabama to pratcice a southern accent. He also did most of his own stunts, and got the idea for the bunny he carries with him. Impressive?!
6) The destruction of the casino was real
In late 1996 the legendary Sands Hotel in Las Vegas was gonna be demolished. When the production team of Con Air got to know about it, they decided to film the whole thing so that they would put it in the movie.
7) In France they had to change the title
In France he film was called “Les Ailes de l’Enfer” (The Wings of Hell). “Con” in French is a slang word for a vagina and, as in most languages, is also used as a very harsh insult.
8) June 2nd
The film came out on June 2nd 1997. The same day, 15 years later, an Allied Air cargo plane crashes into a minibus after overshooting the runway at Accra’s Kotoka International Airport in Ghana killing at least twelve people.
9) Grimes’ favourite movie.
Singer and producer Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, wrote on Instagram that this was her favourite movie ever. Maybe ironically, maybe not. Does it matter?
10) Are you sick?
The screamo band Comadre from California uses a Con Air sample at the beginning of their song Hit Me Up On My Celly Cell.
