Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched his official app with much exhibition for iPhones, Android gadgets and Windows telephones.  . He told the nation that he needed the general population of India to utilize the application and answer the 10 inquiries on demonetisation .And nearly seven million people downloaded this application. But on December 1, a 22-year-old managed to hack into it.

Hacker Javed Khatri has claimed that he hacked the PM’s app according to Your Story. An email he sent to Your Story read as follows:

“I am able to access private data of any user on the app. The information incorporates telephone number, email, name, area, interests, last scene and so on. I effectively figured out how to extricate the individual telephone numbers and email ids of ministers like Smriti Irani.  Not only that, I can make any user on the platform follow any other user on the platform. This is just the summary of this huge security loophole which I want to report. The privacy of more than seven million clients is in question if this gets overlooked.”

However, Khatri reiterated that he did not want to do anything malicious but just show that the app could be hacked because there were security flaws. He also sent Your Story numerous screenshots to show that his hack was real. In fact, he went on to show the personal data of Dr Jitendra Singh, who is the Minister of State for the Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region, which he reportedly got through the app.

But Amit Malviya, National Convener – Information and Technology, BJP told Your Story:

“We have come across a report about ‘Narendra Modi Mobile App’ in which a possibility to access user data has been mentioned.  We might want to express that the majority of the information that is shared on the App is, at any rate, in the general population space, for example, remarks posted by individual clients, different posts, the gatherings and taking after rundown of each client, can be seen by any individual who is utilizing the App. The App doesn’t catch any private or touchy information. Application client’s data is put away in an encoded mode. We consider information security important, and satisfactory measures are set up to maintain a strategic distance from any conceivable security rupture or risk. We might want to express gratitude toward Mr Javed Khatri for recognizing that the engineers have centered a considerable measure around security. We have since had a useful engagement and examined different efforts to establish safety to further upgrade the security components of the application. Our computerized resources are put through routine security reviews and are in consistence with surviving gauges. Truth be told, we support any individual who has any proposals or contributions on how we can enhance the general understanding on the App is welcome to keep in touch with us through the input area in the App.”
