Frustrated by long queues outside banks and ATMs? Now You Can drive into a petrol pump to draw cash. Swipe your debit/credit card at petrol stations run by state-run oil companies and you will get Rs 2k.
The facility will be available at more than 2,500 petrol pumps run by public sector oil companies the country that have card swipe machines from State Bank of India, the country’s largest bank, said a press release retweeted by Dharmendra Pradhan, the minister of state (independent charge) for petroleum and natural gas.
“…it has been decided that an amount of up to Rs 2000 per day per person can be dispensed against swiping of card from select petrol pumps.
Petrol pumps continue running by the Indian Oil Corporation Limited, Bharat Petroleum Corporation Limited and the Hindustan Petroleum Corporation Limited where POS (motivation behind offer) machines of the State Bank of India (SBI) are available will have the workplace.
The new measures for withdrawing cash came after people have been complaining of problems faced by them. The oil industry is also in further converses with SBI and other banks to extend this facility to more than 20,000 petrol pumps gradually.
The fuel stations will keep on accepting scrapped Rs. 1000 and Rs. 500 notes till November 24, the release said.
